In my practice

I am always learning.

My grandmother gifted me the book Swamplands of the Soul by James Hollis back in 2010. In the front cover she inscribed “You embark upon inner travels that are the balancing act for the outer. One adventure leads to the other, offering wonders to the seeker and keeping one’s life in balance. Answers lead to questions. Life is the circus; we are the clowns.”

These words have never expired for me and I want to offer them as a part of my foundation upon which I move - within my practice and without. I won’t meet you from a fantastical destination called healed. I am strongly oriented towards the process, the curious, the ineffable, and what is life affirming. I value the tears, the laughter, the silence, and the uproar in equal measure.

The deep down work of therapy comes after the a-ha moment. Let’s figure how to get out of the mud while holding its reverence. Insight needs support, practices, and grounded presence in order to carry the new information to the areas of your life that thirst for change.

It’ll take your tender attention and loving devotion to move your life away from a circular battle with the inner-critic, guilt, doubt, and shame.

A new way forward is possible.

Change takes time.

Let’s begin.
